36 weeks

We have officially hit a huge milestone in the pregnancy!  We are 36 weeks along, which is far enough along that the doctor won't try to stop labor if it occurs.  With the steroid shots I received a few weeks ago, we are fairly confident that his lungs will be developed and he will be ready for life outside the womb.  We are still praying that he will decide to stay in and cook a little longer.  Hopefully another week so everyone can make is back to Indiana for his grand arrival!

I went to work today, which was a litte more difficult than I imagined.  It is amazing how being on your feet for the day can hurt so bad!  I came home and laid down for an hour and a half!  We go back to the doctor on Friday, and in the meantime we just sit around and wait.

My first post

Okay, I am new to this whole blogging thing, but since our lives are about to dramatically change, I thought that a blog might be the best way to update everyone on our busy lives!  Mike and I are about ready to welcome our first child into the world.

My pregnancy had been very healthy and uneventful until very recently.  I went to my routine doctor's appointment at 33 weeks, 2 days and found out that I had already started to dilate and efface prematurely, so after 2 1/2 very long weeks on bedrest and 2 painful steroid shots into my butt, I am finally getting released tomorrow!  I will be 36 weeks tomorrow and free to go into labor whenever our little guy is ready.  We are praying that he stays in there at least another week to let him grow and mature even more, but we trust that he will come when he is ready to be here.

I know that both Mike and I are very excited an anxious for his arrival.  Honestly, the hardest thing for me is the unexpected.  I could go into labor this week, or could go another 4 weeks at my due date!  As of last Friday, I am 2cm dilated and 75% effaced and his head is down and ready to go, so I know I am making good progress.  But you can apparently walk around like that for awhile, so you never know.  Every twinge, cramp, and pain gets me worried that today might be the day.  So, he better come soon before the suspense literally kills me!!

So, tomorrow back to work, and I will try to keep updating my progress and keep your fingers crossed that out litttle boy arrives safely.
